A Kitschy Tomato-Inspired Wedding Welcome Party
When you think of wedding stationery and event design, it is easy to imagine traditional elegance and timeless touches. However, Jackie and Zach’s welcome party at Keswick Hall proved that you can keep your ceremony and reception classic while still having fun with a kitschy, relaxed vibe for the rehearsal dinner. I loved how this event mixed humor and style, giving guests an instant taste of the couple’s playful personalities.
Tomato Puns, Tennis, and a Food Truck
The design leaned into clever details that kept the mood light. The escort display greeted guests with the phrase “Love You from My Head Tomatoes,” which set the tone right away. Once inside, custom placemats shaped like tennis rackets appeared at every seat, a nod to the couple’s love of the sport. I had so much fun designing these playful details, especially since each racket featured tiny tomato illustrations!
The place cards rested on small olives, which felt both whimsical and fitting alongside the tomato theme. Guests noticed the little touches, and many laughed as they found their seats. Toward the end of the night, a retro-style blue food truck rolled up with a sign that read “Jackie + Zach”.
a relaxed + trendy wedding welcome party
What stood out most to me was how this party balanced creativity with comfort. The florals were fresh and garden-like, featuring leafy greens, peppers, and potted herbs, which brought a natural, homegrown energy to the tables. Meanwhile, candlelight and mismatched tomatoes scattered along the tables added warmth without feeling overly formal.
This kind of welcome party is the perfect way for couples who want a timeless wedding day to still incorporate trendy or fun details. Since the rehearsal dinner or welcome event feels more casual, it allows for playful designs that don’t clash with the overall wedding aesthetic!
